February 2, 2015   Ali   Articles & Interviews Comments Off on Eddie Redmayne: Wearing Suits Makes Me Feel Like I Have a Proper Job

People.com shared this article about Eddie and how he enjoys wearing suits and how he defines his style.

Eddie Redmayne has been all over the red carpet this award season (thanks to his highly-nominated role as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything), and he’s proved his dressing skills are just as good as his acting skills (talk about a breakout year!). But where exactly did he learn to pull off menswear so impeccably? At school.

“I’ve always worn suits, so I’ve always felt at ease in them,” the actor tells the March issue of Men’s Health, referencing his days at Eton College in England, where he was required to dress up in jackets and ties. He also got some inspiration at home: “My dad is a dapper man. He wears suits for work, so maybe wearing them makes me feel subconsciously like I have a proper job.”

Redmayne adds that the right suit can also boost confidence. “A well-cut suit feels like armor,” he says. “If it’s tailored to fit, you feel strong. I don’t slouch as much. My shoulders look stronger.”

While he may know all about the right fit, he has to have some help choosing the right color palettes. “I’m color-blind, so I usually stick to blues and grays,” he shares. “They make for a pretty safe combination — you can wear them together and they’ll never clash.” (He also isn’t afraid of brightly-hued suits as seen by the turquoise one above worn to The Theory of Everything premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last year.)

So will he be wearing a basic tuxedo at the Oscars this year? Hopefully not. “My look is generally simple and classic, but I like to add substance with texture and color. An interesting tie or pocket square can really shake things up.”

January 30, 2015   Ali   Articles & Interviews Comments Off on Eddie Redmayne on His Post-Oscars Plans: I Want to Sit on a Beach and Read a Book

Eddie Redmayne has already confessed he’s a big fan of reality TV. But the Oscar nominee, 33, admits that his guilty pleasures don’t stop there.

How does he plan to escape after all of the red carpet hoopla?

With a beach vacation that includes new wife Hannah Bagshawe and a “really trashy” book, he says.

“When you’re an actor, there’s always something you have to read for work, so you always have to either be reading a script or researching a script,” the British actor tells PEOPLE before taking home the cinema vanguard award at the Santa Barbara Film Festival on Thursday. “That moment where you get to choose a book that you want to read just for pleasure is that rare thing,” he adds.

He may be ready to ditch awards season for a vacation, but Redmayne calls his experience portraying Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything “formidable.”

“I’m someone who gets caught up in the banalities and anxieties of the every day,” he says. “But I’m just remembering, we only have one shot at this, being on this planet,” he says. “[The movie] encouraged me to make sure you live your life passionately.”

January 27, 2015   Ali   Articles & Interviews, Relationships & Family Comments Off on Eddie Redmayne reveals how his new wife keeps him grounded amid Oscars buzz

I love this article from the Daily Mail about how Hannah keeps Eddie grounded … love his newly wed stories that he has been sharing lately!

He’s been tipped for an Oscar for his winning portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory Of Everything.

But that doesn’t mean that Eddie Redmayne can ignore the dirty dishes, at least if his new wife Hannah Bagshawe has anything to do with it.

‘There was a moment yesterday where I was in rehearsal and my wife was calling me because our dishwasher broke down,’ Eddie told E! News.

‘So in the process of trying to focus on my craft, I was dealing with the blocked pipes,’ he added.

Eddie, who wed Hannah last month, also revealed that he’s been rehearsing for his next film.

‘I haven’t worked since The Theory of Everything, so it’s good to go back and remind myself this is what I do,’ he said.Eddie Redmayne & wife at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards

Eddie’s next film The Danish Girl features him as transgender pioneer Einar Wegener and is based on a 2000 novel by David Ebershoff.

The novel was inspired by the true story story of the Danish painter who in the 1930s became one of the first recipients of sex reassignment surgery and his California-born wife.

The film by Les Miserables and The King’s Speech director Tom Hooper is due out in 2016.

Eddie was named outstanding actor on Sunday at the Screen Actors Guild Awards and earlier this month won the award for best actor at the Golden Globe Awards.

‘I’d like to dedicate the award to those people around the world living with ALS, to those who have lost their lives to this brutal disease,’ Eddie said while accepting the SAG Award.

The last 10 actors to win the Screen Actors Guild Award for best actor have gone on to win the Oscar in the category.

Eddie has received critical acclaim for his portrayal of scientist Stephen Hawking in The Theory Of Everything.

He has been nominated for an Oscar for his peformance and also for a BAFTA Award.

Eddie met Hannah while studying at Eton College and the longtime couple in May announced their engagement.

January 27, 2015   Ali   Articles & Interviews Comments Off on How Eddie Redmayne Will Gear Up for the Oscars: “I Won’t Sleep for Months”

InStyle.com shared this article on Eddie’s reaction to how he would prepare for the upcoming Academy Awards!

There’s no questions that Eddie Redmayne has had an amazing past few months, and now he is gearing up for the final few weeks of awards season. Just last night, the star took home the SAG Award in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role category for his critically acclaimed role in The Theory of Everything, following his recent win at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards. Up next? The Academy Awards, where Redmayne is nominated for Best Actor.

When we told Redmayne that most SAG winners go on to take home the Oscar, he revealed how he’s going to feel until film’s biggest night arrives. “I didn’t know that factoid so thank you for that. Now I won’t sleep for months,” Redmayne told InStyle on the SAG Awards red carpet. But, he won’t have too much time to contemplate the upcoming ceremony: “To be honest I’m prepping a new film and I’m in rehearsals. This journey has been extraordinary for me, but I have to sort of remind myself to go back to the work and what I’m doing so that my mind will stay occupied.”

And, Redmayne shared with us just how it feels to win. “I wish I could articulate it. I describe it as like a white noise of euphoria. I can’t really articulate how it feels, but it’s a very wonderful sensation,” he said. “It’s wonderful promoting a film like The Theory of Everything that you care about and passionate about. Being recognized by your peers is just beyond extraordinary.”
